İngiltere’de yaşayan K Martin ve Merve Erdem’den oluşan Kit Sebastian, çok dilli psikedelik pop şarkıları yazan bir duo. Onları ortak noktada buluşturan şey; dünyanın büyülü gizlerine ve bunları kendileri yaşantılarına katabilmenin yollarını bulmaya yönelik tutkuları. Nitekim ikili, duygusal açıdan alabildiğine zengin üçüncü albümü New Internationale’i Çekya’dan Fransa’ya, Türkiye’den İtalya’ya uzanan turneler esnasında, gezegenin farklı köşelerinde yazdı.

Flying Lotus’un kurucusu olduğu plak şirketi Brainfeeder’dan 2024’ün son aylarında yayımlanan albüm, işitsel anlamda Azerbaycan cazından Tropicália’ya, Fransız pop’tan Anadolu rock’a uzanan geniş bir yelpazeye sahip. Merve’nin sesinden dinlediğimiz göçmenlik deneyimlerinden aşk hikâyelerine kadar pek çok farklı tema, Kit Sebastian ile özdeşleşen sinematik estetikle hayat buluyor. Daimi arayış hâlinde olan ikilinin son albümü,

K. Martin and Merve Erdem—better known together as the psychedelic, polyglot pop duo Kit Sebastian—both live in England. They share a sense of being entranced by the world, intrigued by what else they can find and fold into their own lives. Indeed, the pair wrote their musically irrepressible and emotionally sophisticated third album, New Internationale, in so many countries ranging from Czechia to France, Turkey to Italy, during so many tours.

Released in the final months of 2024 by Brainfeeder, the label founded by Flying Lotus, the album has a wide aural range, from Azerbaijani jazz to Tropicália, French pop to Anatolian rock. From immigration experiences to love stories, Merve's voice brings many different themes to life with the cinematic aesthetic that is synonymous with Kit Sebastian. The duo's latest album is proof that they have reached a musical crossroads they can call home, at least for now.
